The types of fish you choose and the ratio of fish between species are critical factors in finding that perfect balance underneath the surface of the water. Certain types of fish, such as Largemouth Bass, thrive in most small ponds or lakes, reproduce easily and are excellent at population control of other species. Bluegill and Redear provide an ample source of food for Largemouth bass, reproduce easily, and help control other organisms such as pond snails.

An overabundance of one species of fish can throw the others out of balance having detrimental and often costly effects on a pond overall. This is where science and years of experience become crucial.
